About the Artist
Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Sarah Richards is a recent graduate from Virginia Wesleyan University, where she studied Art and Psychology. This past summer, she attended the Lakkos Artist Residency for two weeks and created a mural in Heraklion, Crete. This fall, Sarah will begin her studies at Eastern Virginia Medical School for a master’s in Counseling and Art Therapy.
Sarah is a painter and muralist, most recently participating in the 8th annual ViBe Creative District Mural Festival as a featured college muralist. In her personal work, Sarah enjoys depicting themes of girlhood, florals, and her experience with scoliosis. Sarah’s dedication to community-centered art is reflected in her previous roles as a ViBe Creative District intern, an art teacher at a refugee center in Malta, and curator of The Art of Healing, an exhibit featuring therapeutic artworks and the healing power of creativity.
In her free time when she's not creating, Sarah enjoys finding new coffee spots, thrifting, and cooking!
